This season the Under 17's
shall be coached by
Mr.
Victor Cumbo.
Victor Cumbo
is a qualified coach and a very dedicated and motivated
person. He always strives to give the
best out of the knowledge and good experience he has
in the field of the football game. Mr. Cumbo has also
coached the Lija Women's team in recent past years. The
Under 17 players will surely benefit
under his guidance, if training sessions and advices are taken
seriously. Mr. Victor Cumbo is also being supported by Mr.
Lawrence Borg, who is the liaison person with the
Lija Athletic F.C.
Under 19
team. Mr. Felix Camilleri, the Nursery's
Technical Director,
will also be giving a helping hand to this team. |

Last year, the season for the Lija Iklin
Under 17 boys had mixed fortunes. The team found the going
tough in the early stages of the league, but throughout
the season a substantial number of positive results were
achieved against the more quoted teams. Most
players were high on motivation and showed good technical qualities and possessed the
required skills. It was the first time that a Lija Under
17 team competed in Section 'B'. It was
unfortunate however, that the team ended up 9th in
Section 'B' (made up of 12 teams), which meant
relegation to Section 'C' along with Attard,
Żebbuġ Raners and Sirens. This year the Under 17 Squad
is a very strong squad that has what it takes for a
promotion back to Section 'B'. It should be
another great experience for the boys and one could only hope
that this squad will have a splendid season, and be of a good challenge to its opponents within its Section
