UNDER 16 YOUTH FOOTBALL
ASSOCIATION LEAGUE
This season the Under 16's
shall be coached by
Mr. Sandro Gatt.
Mr. Gatt enjoyed a most successful spell with Lija
Athletic's minor squad last season winning a prestigious
promotion to Malta's top youth division Section A,
as well as claiming the Under 19 Youth Knock-Out
at the Ta' Qali National Stadium last May. Sandro Gatt
is a very dedicated person and always strives to give
the best out of his knowledge and good experience he has
in the field of the football game. The
Under 16 players will surely benefit
under his guidance, if training sessions and advices are taken
seriously. Mr. Sandro Gatt is also being supported by Mr. Paul
Mangion
and Mr. Felix Camilleri, the latter being the Nursery's
Technical Director.
Last year, the season for the Lija/Iklin
Under 16 boys was a mixture of
ups and downs. The Blue-Greens enjoyed some very bright moments
throughout their season but a negative patch of
consecutive league defeats, somehow de-motivated some of
the players and this hindered the attainment of desired
results. The team possessed good technical qualities and
the required
skills, nevertheless a series of injuries compounded with absenteeism
made it very difficult for the coach, William Hendy.
This was also of an immense set-back for the rest of the
group. This year it
seems that the Under 16 Squad has
regrouped itself, and has also been strengthened with the registration
of no less than three new players! One could only hope that this Squad will have a
great season, and be of a good challenge to its opponents within its Section
... Good luck boys!
