 Comments from the Coach: "Our team lost the first game of the new season, but surely did not disappoint with the performance. It was a very balanced match with chances being created from both sides, only for both sets of defences to neutralise accordingly. The goal-keepers were very secure too. 15 minutes before the end of an interesting match, our team tried to push more forward and was punished towards the end of the game with a late goal. Inside the last five minutes, Lija pressed their opponents hard and created the best scoring opportunity of the entire game when captain, Andrew Cremona delivered a fine cross to find Luke Hess alone in front of goal. Unluckily, Hess's header ended just a few inches wide. The green-shirted boys were indeed very disciplined and gave their hearts out in a rather difficult match, but this time it wasn’t enough. The game was very fair and correct."

 Comments from the Coach: "Today, Lija/ Iklin started on a very positive note, however after missing some chances, Gudja managed to forge ahead early in the match with a beautiful goal scored from a difficult angle. This goal was a cold shower for the Greens. Gudja were now playing the better football and the Lija lads looked demotivated and low on morale. During the second period, our team woke up and started to play good football once again, creating several chances and incredibly missing some very easy scoring opportunities. This time I was very calm and confident that we were going to win this match, as even after missing the chances, the players still looked confident and worked well in pressing their opponents and insisted even more in each attack. Lija's insistence paid off later on when captain, Andrew Cremona scored two goals, of which the second one was a 'euro' goal from a very well taken free-kick. At the end, I felt very proud of my players for the way they turned the result in their favour, and the friendship shown between them during the hardest moments of this keen encounter. The game was once again very fair and correct."

 Comments from the Coach: "In today's match it was very evident that there was confusion among the Lija/ Iklin players. The squad also had two regular players missing through injury. The Greens weren't able to produce the usual passing game, and it seemed that the players were experiencing too much pressure from this competitive league game. Nevertheless, Lija still created lots of clear goal-scoring opportunities that were harder to miss than to score. On the other hand, Siġġiewi were rarely dangerous in front. Once again, Andrew Cremona showed his great football talent and also managed to score another two important goals of which the first one came from an excellently executed free-kick. Although this was far from the best match that the Greens had so far, the boys must be congratulated for maintaining a high level of fighting spirit and discipline throughout the whole encounter. The game was overall very fair and correct."

 Comments from the Coach: "This match against bottom team Luqa, was not expected to trouble the Lija/ Iklin boys. In fact the Greens immediately started as the better team, pressing their opponents right from the very first minute. Lija created a lot of chances inside the first half an hour, but only managed to score one goal thanks to Timothy Portelli who scored after finding himself alone in a one to one situation with the Luqa goal-keeper. Given that the Greens were missing plenty of goal-scoring opportunities, the players turned nervous and consequently the Luqa boys started to play the better football. In one occasion just before the break, the Red-Blacks came very close to an equaliser, only for Gary Grech to ably save the dangerous shot. During the second period, the Greens calmed down and went on the pitch more concentrated than before. This resulted very positively as the Lija boys were to score another impressive seven (7) goals when practically converting every chance that came by their way. Substitute Leandro Scerri, Andrew Cremona and Gianluca Camilleri scored two goals each, while Timothy Portelli added another goal to his tally to make the final score 8-0, in what was the most emphatic victory obtained this season so far. From this one-sided encounter, the Lija/ Iklin youths learned that apart from football knowledge and tactical qualities, the players must be patient and always concentrated, if positive results are to be achieved. The game was very fair and correct."

 Comments from the Coach: "Unlike previous matches, this clash versus Gżira United started perfectly for Lija/ Iklin. The Greens managed to score three goals inside the first twelve minutes of the game, and everything seemed so fine and easy from then onwards for our team. It was Timothy Portelli, always in the right place and at the right time, who accomplished this quick hat-trick. The motivated Lija boys never relaxed, but instead kept the momentum and were very concentrated in their play. Although the players tried playing the passing game, the level reached is still not that expected. Once again, it showed clearly that one of the best weapons our team possesses are the set-pieces. Team captain, Andrew Cremona scored an excellent goal from a free-kick and later assisted Luca Spiteri, who netted Lija/ Iklin's fifth goal. Towards the end of the match, Dylan Mintoff rounded the score for a final 6-0 score-line after netting a beautiful header. Mintoff, returns to the squad following a while of absence after suffering an injury. I would like to congratulate all the players for their effort and serious approach towards this encounter. The game was fair and generally correct."

 Comments from the Coach: "The Under 14 team gave another another good account today, following an excellent performance against third placed Kalkara St. Joseph. The Lija/ Iklin boys revenged last season's upset to the Greens of Kalkara with a much deserved 4-0 victory. Our team had an outstanding start to the match, considering all aspects of the game. The defence defended excellently with our keeper, Paul Azzopardi hardly touching the ball in the first half hour. On the other side our attacks were dangerous and after only 20 minutes we secured 3 points in what was supposed to be derby. Luke Hess, Dylan Mintoff and Andrew Cremona were scorers.In second half Kalkara came more organized in defence but still we managed to create more chances of which the best one was when Andrew Cremona hitted the post from strong shot outside the big box. At the end of the game Andrew Cremona secured high score win scoring unusuall goal directly from corner. The bigest pleasure for me as a coach today was not the big score but the fact that Lija/Iklin looked organized like some big teams are. We were serious, disciplined and determined whole game. The game was very fair and correct without any bookings from both sides."
